17km of great hike in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Matn.
We started from the highway to follow a beautiful valley on a former canal. We then climbed to the Monastery of Saint-John Baptist, from the 17th Century.
There we could visit a wonderfully kept printing press form from early 18th century. The first Arabic press in Lebanon.
We kept climbing to reach the village of Chweir, where we enjoyed the stairs to the top (yes some people enjoy stairs!).
We kept on the crest to finally start our descend, where we visited a very cute church in ruins, to finally reach the car.
The trail could be improved by choosing another parking area, and maybe use a long stairway down. Please keep me updated if you have suggestions.

Thanks Christian. Lovely hike. Nature is taking its possession back after the monastery and we struggled a bit. After the stairs in Chouair, there is a restaurant on the left and a monument on the right. We went right through a lovely pine trees / oak forest and then joined back your trail.
