Itinerary description
Starting at Elizabeth Quay and heading towards the Narrows bridge then down on to the South Perth foreshore. A quick stop for breakfast at South Perth then continuing around the river and over the Boorloo pedestrian/cyclist bridge. Finishing off walking along Langley Park and back to the start point (almost)!
A nice walk on a pleasant day of mid-20's c. The walk is almost all on grass so is a pleasant and easy walk barefoot like I was.
Waypoints

Elizabeth Quay
I am undecided if I really like the Elizabeth Quay development to be honest. It seems to have become a rich peoples "playground" to an extent. The Ritz Carlton hotel and numerous apartment blocks sit side by side with office towers. I guess it's called progress but I am not sure if it's quite right. Elizabeth Quay Pedestrian Bridge
I guess some of the architectural designs around the Elizabeth Quay area are nice. The footbridge is one of my favorites.

Elizabeth Quay showing ferry terminal
Looking back towards Perth city we see the ferry terminal where the South Perth ferry departs from. In the centre of the picture is the "Spanda" art work. Spanda is a public art work by Australian born artist Christian de Vietri located at Elizabeth Quay in Perth, Western Australia. It was installed in January 2016. The sculpture is elegant, abstract, and minimalist, giving the impression of an ever-expanding vibrational pattern. It has been described as a celebration of the "union of the individual with the universal". It measures 29 metres (95 ft) high, 16 metres (52 ft) wide and 1 metre (3 ft 3 in) deep. Spanda is the world’s tallest freestanding structure made of carbon fibre.

First Contact Artwork
I really like this art work. It's kind of goofy and at the same time has an obvious attachment to the past.

De Vlamingh Memorial Sundial
The sundial commemorates the voyage of Willem de Vlamingh and his fleet, which culminated in his discovery of Western Australia and the placing of a pewter plate by Dirk Hartog on 25 October 1616, on Dirk Hartog Island. The interactive memorial sundial depicts Willem de Vlamingh’s historically significant arrival at the Swan River. Willem de Vlamingh left a major imprint on Western Australia, by naming various Western Australia iconic locations, including Rottnest Island and the Swan River. This commemorative and interactive work links Perth to Amsterdam, through a fascinating sun-dial. It matches the point on the globe where de Vlamingh landed in Western Australia in time with the Mourning Tower in Amsterdam – the location from where the captain and his crew set off on the expedition that put Western Australia on the world map. The sundial has engravings of an ancient world map and trade route of early Dutch traders. Surrounding the sundial are premium granite bollards with laser etching on each to explaining some of the great travellers Dirk Hartog and De Vlamingh.

Narrows Bridge from South Perth side
The main bridge linking the north and south sides of Perth. The bridge has been added to over the years with a duplication and then a railway line built through the middle.

Lake Vasto
Lake Vasto commemorates the sister city agreement established between Perth and the Italian city of Vasto.
