Itinerary description

xuancheng, an old cultural city in anhui province. it's famous for four treasures in reading rooms, incl. caligraphy brushes, ink sticks, paper and ink stones. you will be amazed by the caligraphy everywhere, schools, temples, parks and shops etc.

it's worth walking around the city, along the streets, roads and lanes. you will enjoy the relics, of which the design and painting is very typical, called hui style.

another worth visiting place is jingting hills, with two gorgeous temples, hongyuan temple and guangjiao temple.

jingting is a forest park, plastic tracks along the way from east to west; the other part, starting from lake light pavilion, consists of stone steps only, which is much tougher to go up.

the view from hilltop, i.e. horizon pavilion and tv tower, is fabulous, where you can birdview the whole city.

for hikers, it would be great to do a big loop, from inner city, to jingting hills, till back to the city. you may follow my track or choose whatever route you are interested in, taking the included roadmap as a reference.

for logistics, you may live near the train station, which is very convenient for you to go to next stop: the yellow mountain, huangshan in mandarin, a must-go place.
