Itinerary description
Drombeg Stone Circle is one of the best known archaeological sites in Ireland and is easy to reach just a short walk from the car park.
It's much more fun though to experience the feel of this more than 3000 year-old-site site and its surroundings during a walk around it.
Glandore itself is a picturesque ancient harbour village and from this village this walk goes steeply up to a height of about 110m where you will reach a t-junction. We took the road to the right which will give you nice views of the Atlantic. Passing the national school and St Fachtna's church take the first lane to the right, signposted Drombeg Stone Circle, that will
take you to the site.
After visiting the site the lane will take you up and down to a bigger road at which you start the climb up again after which you will be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the Atlantic, the Danger Islands, the bay and eventually Glandore and the village at the opposite of the bay, Union Hall.
Glandore itself has nice restaurants overlooking the bay.
