Note: The trails in Slovakia are color-coded (Blue, Green, Red, Yellow). Use the app Trail Tatras (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.mgaczkowski.tatry) which is great to see and plan your routes in advance.

This is an easy trail from Štrbské pleso to Popradské pleso lake, further up in the mountains. The path forks a few times, but leads to the same place.

You can also continue your hike even farther, from Popradské pleso to other lakes and peaks. It will add hours to your hike, though.

At the lake, there's restaurants and coffee shops and fast food joints.

From the lake, visit the Symbolic cemetery national monument, and then continue down towards Štrbské pleso again.

Note: the way down on the Blue trail is all asphalt. It's actually better and more interesting to take the same path down as the ascent, only the different color. Example, at Intersection #3, if you took the Red way up, now take the Green trail when going back (and vice-versa).

Go right, over the bridge.

Intersection #2

Follow the signs towards Popradské pleso.

Intersection #3

The trail forks here: the Red trail goes on higher ground, the Green trail goes down into the forest. Both trails meet at Popradské pleso.

Again a small fork in the trail, but both paths lead to Popradské pleso.

The lake itself. Take a walk around it's shore, it's beautiful.

A truly quaint national monument. The Yellow trail will take you around the cemetery, and then it connects on the main road back to Štrbské pleso (Blue trail).
